Day 1: Welcome airport – Fes – Merzouga

Depart from Fez in the direction of Merzouga, which lies in the Sahara Desert.

Your route will lead you through the Middle Atlas mountains region and the Ifrane National Park, which boasts the largest forest of cedar trees in Morocco.

Remember to keep an eye out for sightings of Macaque monkeys! Enjoy a train ride through the town of Ifrane, which is situated at an altitude of 1713 metres. After lunch, cross the Ziz Valley, which links the High Atlas mountains with the Sahara desert. Revel in the shade of palms and discover the charms of the old abandoned Kasbahs among the traditional Berber villages.

Arrive at Merzouga. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2: Merzouga

After breakfast, leave for the village of Khamilia, where you will be welcomed by a troupe of musicians.

Enjoy some traditional Gnaoua music over a refreshing cup of tea, before meeting with a local family to gain an insight into the lives of Morocco’s desert-dwelling nomads.

Lunch. Later that afternoon, you will join a team of camel-riders for an excursion across the desert sands to a Berber camp, in time to enjoy the spectacular desert sunset.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rose valley

Begin the day with the dazzling sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, depart for the Dades valley. Take a stroll through the 900 year-old Skoura palm plantation before making a visit to the valley of roses, where these flowers are cultivated to produce rosewater and essential rose oils. Travel onwards to the Dades gorges, where natural walls of rock can rise to a height of 300 meters. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in the midst of this fantasy-like landscape.

Day 4: Rose valley – Marrakech

After breakfast, leave for Ouarzazate along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. Along the way, you will visit the Taourirte Kasbah and the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This UNESCO World Heritage site dates from the 16th century and has provided the setting for numerous Hollywood films. Lunch in Ouarzazate, followed by a tour of the town’s film studios. Travel to Marrakech via the High Atlas mountains. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5: Transfer to Marrakech Airport.
